A prescription treatment for moderate to severe hot flashes due to menopause

How Lynkuet® treats hot flashes:

As science has evolved, we’ve learned more about what causes hot flashes
 in menopause.

  • There is a part of the brain called the hypothalamus, which is involved in regulating body temperature.
  • In the hypothalamus, there are cells called KNDy neurons (pronounced “candy”) that have receptors. Two of these receptors are called NK1 and NK3.
  • There are also brain chemicals, two of which are Substance P (SP) and Neurokinin B (NKB). SP works on NK1 receptors, while NKB works on NK3 receptors to help regulate body temperature.
  • During menopause, KNDy neurons become hyperactive and there are increased levels of SP and NKB. This can lead to hot flashes and night sweats.

Lynkuet blocks NK1 and NK3 receptors which blocks the binding of SP and NKB on KNDy neurons. This can regulate the control of body temperature associated with hot flashes.
